Mark Twain quotes

"Patriot: the person who can holler the loudest without knowing what he is hollering about."

"It is by the goodness of God that in our country we have those three unspeakably precious things: freedom of speech, freedom of conscience, and the prudence never to practice either."

"Whenever you find yourself on the side of the majority, it is time to pause and reflect."

"Twenty years from now you will be more disappointed by the things that you didn't do than by the ones you did do. So throw off the bowlines. Sail away from the safe harbor. Catch the trade winds in your sails. Explore. Dream. Discover."

"Never tell the truth to people who are not worthy of it."

"Keep away from people who try to belittle your ambitions. Small people always do that, but the really great make you feel that you, too, can become great."

-Mark Twain

Comedians say it straight

This post is dedicated to the comedians who stuck themselves out there and didn't care about how well received their opinions were. They said what they wanted to say; they spoke the truth. They didn't care about losing publicity for bringing up controversial subjects. They had something to say, and they said it, and did their jobs as comedians by helping us see the ridiculousness of it.

"Much comedy contains variations on the elements of surprise, incongruity, conflict, repetitiveness, and the effect of opposite expectations, but there are many recognized genres of comedy. Satire and political satire use ironic comedy to portray persons or social institutions as ridiculous or corrupt, thus alienating their audience from the object of humor." -wiki

Comedy is a powerful tool, more powerful than people give it credit. A comedian is someone born with a creative mind, and the basic rule of creativity is an ability to perceive the world around them in a different way. A different, unexpected perception could be surprising, which could make it humorous.
Look up some famous comedians and you'll find they were not only entertainers, but excelled in writing, music, art, politics, etc. They are constantly observing, examining things, taking them apart, studying them inside and out, looking for different ways to see the world.

The first one is Bill Hicks
(personal hero)

Bill Hicks's 'Revelations' stand-up show from 93'.

If you don't know much about Bill Hicks, there is an amazing documentary about him here . It shows a lot of famous clips from his stand-up shows and interviews from family, friends, and fellow comedians that admired him for his rebelliousness as he covers everything from religion, the war in the middle east, the jfk assassination, and drugs.

Next is Lewis Black

If this man's raw outrageousness doesn't split your sides...then... yeah

Zeitgeist

so here we go.

this is Zeitgeist, the full, remastered version.

The running time is 2:02:15

I'll post the move in chunks if you don't have the patience to watch the whole thing. (hooray for the ADD generation)

Seriously,I urge you to watch this film. I'm not asking you to buy into a belief, or forcing a specific view point down your throat. This is just some things to think about. You can take what you want from it and make a decision for yourself.

Think.

I'm at a loss of words

David Letterman asked Bill O'Rielly during the interview on his show:

"Am I right about one thing? You guys over there at Fox, guys like Rush Limbaugh...You guys know it's all just a goof, right? You're just horsin around? Am I right about that? I mean, you're doing it cause' you know it'll be entertaining."

This HAS to be a joke. I mean, I'd LIKE to think that although the attitude and propaganda Miss. Ingraham is spewing is some-what negative and damaging, I'd LIKE to THINK that after the show is over, and she goes home and hangs up her little SS hat and cracks open a can of pure BITCH, that she REALLY doesn't feel that way but enjoys of Fox news salary. If she's gonna bullshit the public, I'd like to think she could own up to it.

But if this is the REAL attitude the conservatives of this country have...that taking away their SUV'S and AC is robbing them of their civil liberties, while blatantly ignoring things like the Patriot Act... (sigh).. I'm at a loss of words.

The Decline and Fall of America

I let this video run the other night when I was cleaning my room. It's a compilation of different new broadcasts from people like Lou Dobbs, Keith Olbermann, along with interviews with soldiers who have returned from Iraq and others. Some of it is very radical, but their coverage on Halliburton, the cost of the war, the interviews with the troops is stunning. They also cover more on the North American Union and the National Security and Homeland Security Presidential Directive, a bill that George W. Bush signed in early 2007 and was (surprisingly) NOT COVERED by the main stream media. It's not the most well put together doc I've seen but it's still worth watching. ...And i apologize for that creepy guy's face being the main image.

fuck the corporate media

another example of how news distorts the facts. This covers a protest in Portland, Oregon (ZING!) when president Bush was visiting.
